Fake Clothes for Imaginary People: The Costumes of Rachel Coyle and Travis Halsey

Apr 14th 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm

Our next exhibit will feature costuming duo Travis Halsey and Rachel Coyle. Originally from Springfield and Yankton, respectively, the artists construct costumes for ballet, theater, film, television and circus arts in their Chicago shop. Fake Clothes for Imaginary People will feature costumes constructed for world famous companies such as Houston Ballet, Miami City Ballet, and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. There will also be a tutu from a collection worn by New York City principal dancer, Tiler Peck. In 2015, the duo constructed costumes for Madonna’s “Rebel Heart Tour” opening act. Most recently, they have worked on Houston Ballet’s new Nutcracker production and the upcoming film, “Captive State,” starring John Goodman and Vera Farmiga.

Yankton Area Arts will host a reception and gallery talk with the artists on Friday, April 14 from 5-7:00pm.

All exhibits are free and open to the public.
