Ability Building Services (ABS) is a vital private not-for-profit organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with all abilities in Yankton. Through a range of programs, including pre-vocational activities, vocational training, residential support, and other tailored services, ABS empowers its participants to build skills and achieve greater independence. With a mission to provide people with opportunities for enriched lives, ABS plays an essential role in fostering inclusivity and personal growth within our community.
In October 2023, ABS partnered with Yankton Area Arts (YAA) to expand its reach and offer new creative opportunities. What began as a single class of 3-4 participants has flourished into a thriving program with three weekly classes, each accommodating 3-4 individuals. This collaboration provides a unique platform for participants to express themselves through art, explore new talents, and connect with others. By working together, ABS and YAA are creating a more inclusive and vibrant community, demonstrating the transformative power of art and the importance of supporting individuals of all abilities.
