The America the Beautiful exhibition is an open art competition celebrating the diverse landscapes, cultures, people, and stories that shape the United States. Hosted by Yankton Area Arts at G.A.R. Hall, the show is open to artists of all experience levels working in any medium. Artists are encouraged to interpret the theme broadly and personally — from sweeping natural vistas to intimate moments of everyday life.

•  Open to all artists of all ages and experience levels.
 

•  All artistic media, techniques, and styles are accepted, including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, fiber art, digital art, mixed media, and installation.
 

•  Work must be original and created by the submitting artist.

Submission Guidelines

  • Up to 3 works per artist  · All forms of media welcome

  • Work must be original and created by the submitting artist

  • 2D work must be wired and ready to hang 

  • All artwork must be available for sale unless marked NFS

  • Submission Deadline: June 19th, 2026  · Artwork Drop-off: June 1–19, 2026  · Notification: June 26, 2026

  • Yankton Area Arts retains a 30% commission on all sales. Artists are encouraged to insure their work.

Artist Agreement
